Ampd Mobile Bites the Dust
Posted: 7.20.2007
After filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy, Ampd Mobile has announced that they were unable to acquire the funding needed to continue operations. Ampd's cost to operate on Verizon's network cost the company a staggering $370,000 a day. By the time Ampd filed for bankruptcy, they were already $51 million behind in payments to Verizon. In an attempt to bring the company to profitability, Ampd seeked additional funding. When this funding fell through, the company had little choice but to fold.
So what does this mean for Ampd's customers? Customers will continue to have service until July 31st. At that point they will need to find a new provider.
