Had Verizon for 2 years now and it has been great, hardly any complaints besides the normal bureaucratic nonsense that comes with any cellular company. Service has been great, I even had full (5 bars) service out in the Pacific Ocean when I was sailing to Santa Catalina Island.
I've had great reception all over Chicagoland, and the customer support has been pretty good too. Its a bit more expensive than other providers, but its worth it.
Coverage is great almost whereever I go. I can't say the same for customer service when it comes to someone correcting their own mistake in billing. It seems they're not looking at the same record because representatives give you different stories. It's aggravating and time consuming when they're supposed to make your life easier. If they improve that, then I would rate them 5 stars.
Verizon is not great everywhere and they are not everything they claim to be. (CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW... GOOD) is a very crafty sales pitch but not all fact. In early Oct 2003 we purchased 3 of the latest and greatest flip phones that Verizon offered and we had very bad experiences with repeat dropped calls to the tune of 4 to 5 per conversation. Being here in the big metro city of Nashville we found that to be rather strange. Verizon offered no explanation to the reasons why. Verizon keeps computer records of dropped calls and they did admit that we had many. They tried to enhance our service but it never got better. We cancelled our service within the 14 day trial period but found that customer service is not pleasant to deal with at all. Nearing 60 days we are still waiting for a refund for the returned phones. We have seen other reviews and heard that Verizon has over billing habits. So check your bill carefully. Verizon also managed to use a loop hole in their contract to slap us with an early termination fee because one of our phones was stolen and they claim that makes the contract valid, even though we cancelled that phone on the day it was stolen far before the 14 day trial ended. We agreed to pay for the stolen phone but we don't agree that a non returnable phone constitutes a valid contract. Our loss is to the tune of nearly $500.00 just to test out Verizons so called best service. We don't recomend Verizon in TN. CAN YOU HEAR THIS... BEWARE OF VERIZON'S GAMES.
The service department has been very friendly but unsuccessful in fixing why I can't send out text messages 3 miles from my home. I receive them fine. My coworkers sitting next to me using T-Mobile have no problem sending and receiving text messages. I do like that my phone will switch to analog since I travel in remote areas often, so I do get great voice connection coverage in the places I've tried so far. Just frustrated that I can't reply to txt messages. Also frustrated that the tri-modal phone (2 digital, 1 analog) doesn't have a camera. But, it seems even with other providers that when you get the cool features such as bluetooth, etc, you lose the analog capability.
Pretty bad. I have many dropped calls from my home area near Chicago. Keeps bouncing from digital to analog service, voice is a joke when you get notified 2 hours after the message was left. Forget about receiving or making a call inside any store. phone is Startac
Excellent custumer serivce, hardly no wait time to get help. Clear voice and best coverage in East coast--my experience. I give Verizon thumbs up!!!
I have had many cellular carriers; Sprint, Nextel, Verizon, Us Cellular. Verizon takes 1st place. Although nothing is 100% Verizon is close. The best key; FIND THE RIGHT SALES REP! I have also learned that if you don't like your first answer. CALL BACK. Explain the situation and your previous response and simply explain your side again! Out of anyone I have used Verizon is the best.
Better than anyone, by far, in rural and mountainous West.
Verizon is the best service hands down. I get service everywhere except for when I'm in Porter Ranch where getting service there can usually be a challenge. Most of the time I get service far inside a building b/c of the 800 MHz frequency which penetrates through walls. Only thing I don't like is their upgrade policy. Customers have to wait until their contract is up to get a free or a discounted phone or you'll have to pay full retail price.
