Sprint Reviews

Sarah Deerdra, Webster Florida
I had sprint and was swallowed up with roaming charges and a lot of static and dropped calls. If I went 25 miles from my home I encountered roaming charges. I went with nextel the service was 110 percent better. I signed up for the nextel local plan. NO roaming charges anywhere in the state of Florida. Eventually I got in on the National Plan. No roaming anywhere in the USA. I'm worried about the merger with sprint. Since sprint is taking over I hope they don't mess up nextel too or else I'll be foprced to try AT&T. Sprint stunk back then. From reading these reveiws things don't sound any better.

Yes, customer service is a big issue. Miss your payment day by one, and they are on you to turn off your phone. Lots and I mean lots of dropped calls eventhough it looks like full signal. Also, they don't appear to get the really good phones first, so I am switching because of those reasons and the phones are an afterthought with them.

Kathie, Washington State
For 2 years I had Sprint and encountered no problems-except that they are very expensive and their surcharges are the highest I've seen among the major providers. I signed up for a $45.00 shared minutes plan with wireless web and voice dial as extras ($5.00 each)-although most providers now include these in their plans. My bill was $62.00 and change per month-but I stayed with them because service was good. Then six months ago my bill went up with no explanation to $78.00 then $81.00 per month. I was being charged extra for 'browser' minutes I never used, and $13.00/month in various taxes and surcharges. This has gone on since June. Also, my phones are 2 and 3 years old respectively and barely functional anymore. According to Sprint's ads, both qualify for a $150.00 credit towards a replacement. However, Sprint continues to claim that they are not eligible until March, 2005-which is just a big fat lie! Now, I can't even use their service if I wanted tobecause my phones are so bad.
I called and called Sprint from June-October; the rude, stupid or both people in Customer Service either told me I was wrong or promised to check into it and never did. Finally, on October 6, 2004 I sent them a letter telling them I wanted my service cancelled, and explained why. I have not used my Sprint service or phones since. I have sent three more letters-they never answer them or call me. They sent me one text message saying, essentially,'pay-up or we will shut off your phone' a month after I asked them to cancel my service. I replied with an e-mail restating my cancellation request. They never answered.
Now they are sending me nasty letters telling me I owe over $250.00 and threatening to send the account to collections; in fact they probably already have.
My recommendation-stay away from them! and their new partner, Nextel. They charge for extras other providers include in their plans, their surcharges are outrageous and not government imposed-tho' they will tell you they are-and worst of all, they refuse to cancel your account when you ask them to. I know I will wind up in court with this.
Stay away from Sprint!!!!

I had been a customer for 4 years with Sprint. I had to disconitnue service for personal reasons. I was very disappointed when I called the customer service line to do this. I got transferred to 3 different people to get this done and at the end was treated incredibl badly by the manager. I will never go back to Sprint again!!!!!!

I am a sprint employee and also have had every cellphone service provider in the past there service is the only all fiber optic cell phone provider so they have the clearest calls.. as fas as i know all service providers have a early term fee.. ive had verizon which had a 175 early term fee.. ive had t-mobile which was 150 and ive had alltel which was 175 and ive had sprint which is also 150.. as for plans sprint has a really good deals out now to compete with its competetors. there fair and flexable plan is one of the first plans to help prevent overage.. also their vision services is still one of the only cell phone providors that allow u to browse the web at high speeds and their phones are the best out.. yes i admit their service can be ify in some places but other than that they are great..

Eddy, Florida
I've been a Sprint customer for little over 5 months and very satisfied with the service. I had Cingular since my college years when they were BellSouth Mobility and was one of the very first kids with cellphones at the time.

Comparing Cingular and Sprint is like night and day. At Sprint, I find everything to be pretty straighforward and I have had no problems whatsoever. Customer service is good but just like any other company some reps are more friendly or helpful than others. I can deal with that, I don't expect they'll be my next best friend.

Voice quality is the closest to landline quality I have experienced. If you are looking for data services, no one can beat Sprint for content, reliability and accessibility. They have fast, unrestricted access to the internet on nearly every phone, the ability to send text, picture and video mail. Can't live without it now.

I took the time to read some of the negative posts here and I'm saddened to see that most of it is unjustified. Just like every service, there is a contract that explains the terms under which those services are provided. It seems the problem here is that people don't bother to find out what those terms are. Most people here go on and on about overage charges and such. If only they acted like adults and would bother to manage their usage, perhaps that would not happen.

I don't clain Sprint is perfect but it's certainly a superior service. People just need to do their homework and find out if the service is good for them, such as finding out how the coverage is in your area, choosing a realistic plan that will fit your usage patterns and having real life expectations from customer service.

Some people here seem to be hallucinating about what they think they are entitled to for the money they pay. Some others are just plain ignorant and they deserve to pay for their stupidity and lack of responsibility.

As long as you do your homework and remain an informed customer (find out about coverage, choose right plan, READ your contract and stick to it and manage your time on the phone responsibly) you should not have any issues with Sprint.

Most of the reviews here seem very negative, I guess because when someone has a bad experience they need to warn others. On the other hand, I have been a Sprint PCS customer for 4 years, and like the service so much that I just signed a 2-year contract. In fact, one of the things that I liked best about Sprint during those years was that they allow month-to-month service. I could always leave at an instant, but never did because the service was good. No other carriers do that, and to me that says they have no confidence that customers will stay unless trapped. I use an older Sprint handset, a Qualcomm 1960, because the audio is absolutely as good as a landline phone. None of the newer handsets even come close. Service (at least with this handset) is so good that I have no landline anymore. Coverage in Florida is excellent and it is rare that I lose a call. Customer service is far better than several years ago. It is important to stay polite and focused when there is a problem, and I then have found Sprint reps try their best to help. Sometimes it is obvious the rep isn't up to speed, then it is better to try again. I would love to use the newer features, like Ready-Link, cameras, speakerphones, alarms, web browsing, etc. But as long as the new handsets have such horrible audio, I will stay with the smooth, perfect phone service I have now with my Qualcomm 1960 handset.

DO NOT BE SWAYED BY SPRINT PCS AND THEIR SPECIAL DEALS---IN THE END YOU WILL PAY WITH YOUR TIME, MONEY AND PEACE OF MIND. It is a deal with the Devil.

Kurt, Iowa
There are a good many things wrong with Sprint PCS but the one that bugs me the most (the one that will make me pay the 150 early termination fee with pleasure)is the year contract extension for any change in plan or number. Years back when I moved to Denver from Illinois i got my phone number changed to a local area code. The salesperson at the Sprint store in Illinois stated that I could get it a new area code once I moved. What no one told me is that they'd charge me an early termination fee for my Illinois area code and start that one year contract again for the new Denver area code.

Sprint is deceptive.
