Sprint Stop Sales of LG RumorPosted: 12.31.2007
Due to a firmware bug, Sprint has temporarily pulled the LG Rumor from store shelves. Apparently, a debugging menu to be used by service technicians was accidentally left accessible by users via the phone's menu. The problem is that once the debugging menu is loaded, the phone's internal memory is wiped. The only remedy for users who have accidentally wiped their phone's memory is to send the phone back to the factory to have the firmware reinstalled.
To resolve the problem, LG is updating the firmware to prevent users from accidentally accessing the debugging menu. Current LG Rumor users will be able to update their firmware over the air. Sprint plans on restarting sales of the Rumor once the firmware update is available.
