Samsung Propel Pro SGH-i627 Specs, Features & Reviews

I was a crackberry user looking for a little change. I went from the Pearl to the Samsung Eternity. After 3 weeks with the Eternity I called it quits. I needed something with real keys. This is my first WinMo phone. So far, so good.

Pro's:
- Easy to use
- Home screen has everything you need for everyday use
- Keyboard is surprisingly easy to use
- "joystick" makes for easy navigation
- great camera
- External microSD slot(hated the internal slot of the Eternity)
- Mobi TV
- Wi-fi

Con's
- The finish makes it hard to see the screen in daylight
- it's a slider phone(not a big fan of sliders)
- missing 3.5mm jack
- $30 data plan(Eternity was only $15)
- Insurance is $20 more(standard for smart phones vs. regular phones)

Overall I am very happy with this phone and would recommend this phone to anyone who is looking for a user friendly smart phone.

If you like Windows Mobile this phone is great.

Pros:
The slide is sturdy
The keyboard is easy to use
Everything from the rings to voice volume is nice and loud
Screen is nice
Even the camera is good!

Cons:
The soft keys stick out from the face of the phone and are sensitive.

This is my one major issue with this phone. On incoming calls the soft answer key is active no matter what mode you are in. When I remove the phone from the holster or slide it out of my pocket I always hit the soft answer key and the phone answers before I am ready. I contacted Samsung tech support and they said that this is the way it is. I now have the phone upside down in the holster so the buttons are at the top and have to be very careful when ever I take it out to answer a call. I still hit the key every once in a while! Very frustrating!

Besides that it is a great.

I gave the phone a 3 because I think having the soft keys stick out is a major design flaw!

I upgraded to the Propel Pro from a Blackjack II (WM 6.1) a couple weeks ago (three days after the device was released at AT&T). I have been a Windows Mobile Standard user for a few years have tried Mobile Pro and wasn't thrilled with it, particularly the way it handles mail. I have tried touch screen devices and didn't really like those either. And I'm not a fan of Blackberry devices. All these things considered, I was drawn to the Propel Pro.

At first I was hesitant about this device, since on paper it is heavier than others and it didn't offer much improvement over my Blackjack II. However, when I got it I was pleasantly surprised. The size and weight aren't an issue at all, and I am really enjoying the size of the screen and speed of the processor. And the way it processes my email is great. I have three email accounts on the device, with a long list of rules that put my mail into different folders. I sync with Exchange with no problems at all, and the device itself is pretty darn classy looking.

The media applications work as well as I need them to. I don't listen to a lot of music on my phone, but I certainly could, and the fact that the Propel Pro can accommodate a 16GB micro SD card (although some places claim 32GB) means that I can carry around a bunch of albums. The speakers are decent for a cell phone, but not super. Get yourself some headphones and the problem is solved.

My only real complaint about this phone is the battery life. When compared to the Blackjack II, the Propel Pro gets about 75% of the battery longevity, but I have chargers at home, at work, and the car, so no biggie.

I have read that others complain about the fact that the phone is a fingerprint magnet, or that the screen is hard to read in sunlight, and those are valid, but if these are not major stressers in your life, this is a great device.
